February 11, 2002 -- Heritage Conservation Network will be conducting
a series of hands-on workshops designed
to teach historic building conservation skills to professional conservators
and interested laypersons alike. Focusing on vernacular structures,
the workshops have the dual benefit of providing volunteer labor to
worthy conservation projects while improving the ability of people
to care for their own cultural heritage.
Located at project sites throughout the world, the workshops enable
professional tradespeople, historic property owners, and concerned
citizens to learn, under the guidance of a technical expert, how
to work with a variety of historic building materials. Workshops
in adobe conservation, stone and wood frame conservation, and wood
frame and log conservation are currently planned for the 2002 and
2003 field seasons. New workshop locations will be added throughout
the year. Additional information and registration forms can be obtained
from www.heritageconservation.net or by
contacting Heritage Conservation Network at 1557 North Street, Boulder,
CO 80304 USA, +1 (303) 444 0128.
