Boulder, Colorado, September 3, 2002 -- Heritage Conservation
Network (www.heritageconservation.net) has introduced a new feature
on its website. The Donate Now! button, provided by nonprofit Internet
foundation eGrants.org, allows Heritage Conservation Network to
receive credit card donations directly through its website. With
at least 112 million people using the Internet today, the Donate
Now! button is expected to open up a large new audience of supporters.
Heritage Conservation Network expects that this new audience of
donors will help them to further their work in preserving the world's
architectural heritage. HCN organizes workshops that provide hands-on
training in appropriate building conservation techniques at culturally
significant sites around the world. The technology behind the Donate
Now! button was created by eGrants.org to ensure that small to midsize
non-profit organizations, like Heritage Conservation Network, are
not left on the wrong side of the "digital divide". "The
Donate Now! Button was designed to allow nonprofits doing good work
for positive social change to have the same online capabilities
as larger organizations," said Dan Geiger, Executive Director
of eGrants.org.
"We are a small organization tackling a big project"
said Judith Broeker, Heritage Conservation Network's Program Director.
"We rely upon the support of individual contributors. The Donate
Now! button provides a fast and easy way for people to support our
work. People who are intrigued by the concept of what we are trying
to do but unable to participate in a workshop have a new way to
contribute to the conservation of the sites where we're working."
Visitors to the Heritage Conservation Network website can simply
click on any of the Donate Now! buttons located throughout the site
and immediately be taken to a customized donation page. This page
uses the newest secure server technology to guarantee that credit
card donations are safe, secure, and private. |
