
ALBERT KASI
ARTIST
Albert Kasi is an accomplished practicing artist, whose greatest passion lies in the sculpting of wood and stone. He received his degree in Fine Arts from Tirana University, and has commissioned artwork displayed in Gjirokastra and in the National Art Gallery in Tirana.
As an Instructor and Head of Fine Arts at Siri Shapllo School of Fine Arts in Gjirokaster for eight years, he instructed secondary students in art history, sculpture (wood and stone), and drawing.
In addition to being a talented artist, Mr. Kasi is a community leader, involved in many programs designed to aid in Albania’s development. Serving as Deputy Mayor of Girokastra from 2000-2004, he completed the application process that resulted in Gjirokastra’s designation as a World Heritage Site in 2005. He then served as Coordinator of a USAID-funded initiative directed toward improving delivery of municipal services and increasing public participation in the planning of these services.
More recently, Mr. Kasi worked with the Office of Administration and Coordination of the Museum City of Gjirokastra, managing projects related to the development of tourism services. His work was primarily related to saving and improving cultural monuments such as historic homes and museums. Mr. Kasi recently joined a UNESCO project, the Joint Program on Culture and Heritage for Social and Economic Development in Albania.
